Isabel Wiegand
animator, puppet maker and illustrator
Born in Ipswich, UK in 1992 and raised in Rome, Italy, I have always been interested in art and self expression in all its forms.
In 2017 I graduated with honours in Sculpture at RUFA Rome University of Fine Arts. I then worked as a graphic designer for APP Web Agency and later continued my education with a 6-month stop-motion animation specialisation course at IED led by Stefano Bessoni in 2017.
In September 2018 I became co-founder of Fantasmagorie Studio (Rome, Italy), where I mostly work as a director and animator.
In 2019 I took my Masters Degree in stop-motion animation at BAU Centro Universitario de Diseño, Barcelona, Spain.
Later that year, I interned at Citoplasmas stop motion animation studio, Barcelona, Spain.
In 2022 I participated to StopMoLab, a 9-month training in stop-motion animation organized by Momakin, online and in Łódź, Poland.
During the years I have been working on many diverse animation projects and this gave me the opportunity to refine my skills as an artist.
I am extremely passionate about stop-motion animation and always looking for new challenges and projects to bring to life.
Work Experience
2018 - current | Co-founder at Fantasmagorie Studio, (Rome, Italy).
Director, puppet maker and animator for various projects produced by the Studio.
2022 | Stop-motion animation teacher at Accademia Griffith (Rome, Italy).
Teaching stop-motion theory and practice to a group of students.
2020 | Stop Motion Artist at Daitona s.r.l. for Rai Advertisement commercials (Rome, Italy).
Animating food and objects for TV commercials.
2019 | Set maker and animator for “Miguel’s War" (Barcelona, Spain).
Building sets and props and animating for the mixed media live action and stop- motion animation documentary by director Eliane Raheb.
2019 | Animation Internship at Citoplasmas, (Barcelona, Spain).
Assisting the members of the studio with whichever task is needed: polishing and assembling parts to be sold in their online shop Kinetic Armatures, animating segments of commercials, post-producing and editing, set and prop making.
2017 | Art Director Junior at APP Web Agency, (Rome, Italy).
Taking care of every aspect concerning visual communication within the Agency. Logo Design, Infographics, illustrations,
short 2D animated videos, Banners, Website Mockups.
